Vanish the Vortex
Vanish the Vortex was the theme of a conference branding project designed to bring attention to the vast amount of plastic swirling around in our oceans.
The target audience for this conference would be 18-35 year old environmentally active people.

Earthday and other environmental conferences and events are abundant these days, and so with a conference focused on ocean plastics and other garbage, I needed to design a logo that would stand out and draw people’s attention in a clever way.
Using a modified Gadugi typeface I unified the words Vanish, Vortex and The into a locked-up block and by changing the ‘O’ in Vortex to a blue swirl, I brought in visual interest that related very much to the conference theme.
I also used a modified Gadugi typeface for conference speaker names as a clever way to add a wave-like motion to their names.
I relied heavily on shades of blue, aqua and the like, as well as golden colors to mimic an ocean theme throughout the printed materials, as well as the website itself.
